Mixologist’s favourite cocktails to make for events

1. Old Fashioned ( Mixologists love this )

Old fashioned is so popular cocktail that even if you know very little about cocktails, you’ve definitely heard about old fashioned. It’s a classic recipe that can please any crowd. It’s very easy to make and can be made with just a few ingredients – whiskey, sugar, Angostura bitters, and an orange peel or Luxardo cherry garnish.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 Sugar Cube
  • 3 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • 50ml bourbon (or rye whiskey)
  • Orange twist for garnish

Recipe: Drop the sugar cube and bitters into a whiskey glass. Stir to combine, then add the ice cubes to the glass. Pour bourbon over the ice, stir for about 20 – 30 seconds to allow dilution and garnish with the orange slice or Luxardo cherry. This is a delicious cocktail recipe that is very simple and easy to make too. 

2. Bramble 

Bramble is a fruity summertime cocktail made with gin, lemon, and blackberry liqueur. It’s a modern classic recipe that can definitely please any crowd. This drink was created back in 1984 by bartender/Mixologist Dick Bradsell. 

Ingredients: 

  • 40ml gin
  • 30ml fresh Lime juice
  • 20ml creme de mure
  • 10ml simple syrup
  • Lemon half-wheel and fresh blackberry for garnish.

Recipe: Place the crushed ice cubes in a chilled old-fashioned glass and add the gin, lemon juice, and sugar syrup. Then stir up the ingredients and the ice to mix them well. Add more crushed ice to the glass. Slowly pour over the Crème de Mûre, in a circular motion over the drink. This will create a “bleeding” effect. Garnish with fresh berries –  blackberry (Recommended) and a slice of lemon. And it’s ready!

3. Martini  cocktail

This cocktail recipe is very popular and a perfect cocktail for a summer party that a mixologist can make. You can make this cocktail in just five minutes. The liqueur and passion fruit puree give it an amazing taste, but the fresh lime juice gives it a sour taste too.

If you don’t like a traditional martini, then you must try this drink as it has an incredible taste. It’s one of the mixologists’ favourite  cocktails.

It was created back in 1999 by Mixologist Douglas Ankrah who was an owner of a London bar. Douglas gave it this controversial name because he thought it a ‘stylish and confident drink.’

This is also known as passion star martini or maverick martini. Some people prefer to call it passionfruit martini. It’s a modern-day classic cocktail and a popular and delicious drink too.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 ½  Fresh Passion fruit
  • 25ml Vanilla Vodka
  • 5ml of Fresh Lime juice
  • 25ml Passion Fruit Puree
  • 50ml Pineapple Juice
  • 2 shot Brut champagne ( optional )
  • 25ml Passion Fruit Liqueur

Recipe: Cut 2 passion fruits in half, scoop out the flesh and seeds of 1 ½ passion fruits into your shaker. Add all four ingredients except champagne, shake with ice, and strain into a chilled glass. And garnish with the remaining half passion fruit.

Take a chilled shot glass and pour champagne into it. Serve it on the side along with the drink.

4. Sex on the beach

The sex on the beach cocktail recipe is known for its refreshing and fruity taste. It’s unknown when this drink was invented, but it started becoming popular in 1987. 

It was very popular in the 1980s and 1990s and it’s a favourite cocktail of mixologists. 

It’s an easy-to-make cocktail with incredible taste. You must try this one at your event. 

Ingredients : 

  • 24ml ounces vodka
  • 50ml ounces cranberry juice
  • 25ml peach schnapps
  • 50ml orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • Cocktail umbrella for garnish.

Recipe: Add the ice, vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice, and cranberry juice to a shaker and shake. 

Add fresh ice to a highball glass and strain the drink into it. Use a cocktail umbrella for garnish and It’s ready.
